Rojas, Patterson, and Ching dominate 2010 Hobie/Hennessey’s Waterman’s Challenge

Dana Point California, June 5^th  2010 -  Doheny State Beach once again paid host to the this years  Hobie / Hennessey’s Waterman’s Challenge. This year’s Challenge marked the 5^th year of the event, and just like the previous four years, the level of competition was high, and the conditions made for a race that challenged racer’s physical stamina, mental tenacity, and board riding skills.

Hobie team paddler and 3x longboard world champion Colin McPhillips worked his way through a challenging field of some of the worlds best stand up paddle surfers to finish second behind France’s Antoine Delpero at the second stop of the Stand Up Paddle World Tour in Anglet, France.

Jamie Mitchell and Chuck Patterson join the WPA

May 12, 2010, Dana Point, CA – The World Paddle Association (WPA) is proud to announce its’ partnership with Elite Paddlers Jamie Mitchell and Chuck Patterson.  Mitchell, the reigning Paddleboard World Champion and winner of the 2009 Battle of the Paddle (BOTP) and Patterson will serve as ambassadors for the growing global organization.

Hobie signs 3 x Longboard World Champion Colin McPhillips to its Team

San Juan Capistrano, CA (January 6, 2010) –- Hobie is proud to announce the signing of 3 time World Longboard Champion Colin McPhillips as the newest addition to its team of premier surfers and watermen. Colin will be representing Hobie Polarized sunglasses, Hobie Surfboards and Hobie Stand Up Paddleboards.

The National Distance Titles races at Coffs Harbour did not the best conditions this weekend for distance racing. There was no wind, a head wind or a side wind.

The race was won overall by Byron Kurt of California using a Hobie Race Board who also did it solo.

Hobie Cat Australasia’s appointment is Hobie Stand up Paddleboard’s first major step in regards to territorial expansion and distribution into the southern hemisphere. Hobie Cat Australasia plans to emulate the formula for success that has made Hobie Cat catamarans and kayaks leading products in Australia’s water sports market.
